“I am convinced God has granted me the gift and desire to serve in the preaching and teaching ministry. I am committed to leading Gods’ people into the full revelation of God’s promises and love, to nurture their spiritual development, to enable them to discover their spiritual gifts, and to equip them for effective ministry.” |
Our Church's History
Mud Pike Baptist Church was organized on August 15, 1842 with 12 members. Services were first held in a log schoolhouse. In 1844, a new church building was erected on land donated by John Blackmore. In 1938, the members voted to change the name from Delaware Baptist Church to Mud Pike Baptist Church to distinguish it from the Delaware Methodist Church.
On June 2, 1990, the church building was hit by a tornado and underwent reconstructive work. On April 19, 1995, an electrical fire destroyed the church building. Members unanimously voted to rebuild. On April 21, 1996, just one year after the devastating fire, Mud Pike Baptist Church held a rededication service for the new church building.
In 1992, we celebrated our 150th anniversary with a day of homecoming and thanksgiving. Through the years we have had many student ministers from the seminary in Louisville, KY, along with some local ministers on a part-time basis.
We are a member of the American Baptist Churches of IN/KY. Although we are small in number, the "little white church on the hill" has remained a friendly source of pride and comfort to the community. Mud Pike Baptist Church is active in the Men's Fellowship of the Laughery Association.
We have Sunday School at 9:00 am and a Worship Service at 10:00 am each Sunday.
